Flexible
Research Space:
The base building will be constructed of durable long
life materials including state-of-the-art sustainable technologies
including fiber optics, renewable energy, water conservation, and day
lighting. The building should have enough flexibility to change uses over
time. Space modules will be easily configured to allow research
initiatives to plug in and plug out as funding allows. Technology should
be easily upgraded.
To help defray expenses and increase research
collaboration, some of the space will be leased to industry partners who
are interested in developing environmental products or services suitable
for the region. The modular spaces will be leased to research initiatives
on a short and long term basis with rents used to defray the operating
costs of the center.
